Your photographers skill level is important and will have a lot to do with capturing dreamy images, but there are other things to consider. You are able to help your favourite photographer and do a little pre prep!

Intimate city hall elopement in December, the unique way to celebrate getting married.

Elopements are such an amazing expression towards each other, the photography is more important than ever. It captures the intimacy, authenticity and real feelings of the day. What is documented is more than a time slot of images that were captured based on cues or prompts. They are captured during a day or organic feelings and moments that unfold naturally.

It is extremely important to wear what you feel epic in! It goes a long way. If you feel confident, it will shine through into your photos. It’s always fun to bring an extra outfit to your session too. You can have two styles, one dressier outfit and one more casual one. This is again where I like to reiterate my feeling about wearing flats and bringing heels if they’re wanting them for the photos. We may hike across a beach or through a forest trail. Who knows, it’s an adventure!

I’m sure you have attended weddings, watching wedding shows and obsess over everything wedding related at this point. You read magazines and pour over blogs and anything you can find on Google or Pinterest. You’re receiving lots of advice saying “coordinate your flowers” or “seasonal colour schemes” or even things like “bring dancing shoes” and while all of this is good advice there are a few other tips I have for you to maximize your entire wedding day experience!

Sure, their exceptional photos that you fell in love with are important, but you will be spending the entire day with them! So you need to check off a few other boxes too.

Important moments collected on wedding days that cannot be planned for. Things that are my favourite are the fist time the groom see’s his bride, the stolen moments when the witnesses sign the guestbook and first dances.

It just comes down to how much you value the portraits from that day. Do you want a documentary wedding style or do you want combination documentary and portraits? Both ways are great! It really depends on what you prefer. There is no right or wrong answer here.

I love the intimate feels of photographing backyard weddings. I love travelling to all parts of Ontario to check out the beautiful province. This gorgeous property was close to Cobourg Ontario, which isn’t far from Peterborough, but I love shooting all types of weddings, so no backyard is too far away!

Picking a venue can be a challenge on a good day, but picking a venue with Covid in the back of your mind is an entirely different beast. One of my favourite locations to shoot at is Iron Horse Ranch. They have such amazing grounds starting with their house for getting ready, ceremony locations outside along the grounds and the beautiful indoor reception location for dinner.

A moment, you get to enjoy together, in quiet bliss where you can fully appreciate each other. You get to share this moment in private or with your closest friends and family.
